Dermabrasion is a mechanical form of skin resurfacing. Dermabrasion is performed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that are associated with aging. Dermabrasion can be performed on the entire face or in specific regions to improve wrinkles, lines, and/or scars.
Wrinkles or lines around the mouth, sometimes known as lipstick lines or perioral rhytids, develop as early as in the 3rd decade. In addition to genetic influences, external factors such as smoking and sun exposure contribute to the deepening of these lines. Perioral dermabrasion is performed to significantly improve the appearance of wrinkles and lines that develop around your mouth.
To improve the appearance of the deep lines and wrinkles around the mouth.
The treatment area is mapped out to the desired area of effect. The dermabrader instrument is used to resurface the skin to the desired level of skin treatment. In addition to the immediately visible results, skin collagen remodeling is stimulated and will occur over the following 6 months.
Perioral dermabrasion can be performed under local anesthesia in the comfort of our office procedure room. It is often combined with other skin resurfacing procedures or other surgical procedures.
