Video Transcript Host - Who doesn't want a kissable irresistible mouth? Well today we've got a pro to teach us how to get a picture perfect pucker, facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jacob Steiger. Dr Steiger, good morning. Dr. Steiger - Good morning. How are you? Host - I'm fantastic. I have to admit I put on my plumping lip gloss because I knew you were coming and I'm talking about plumping lips. I want to point out though even though you're a facial plastic surgeon we're going to talk about how to get attractive lips at home. Right? Dr. Steiger - Of course! Host - Without, necessarily going under the knife. So let's start with what makes hot lips anyway. Dr. Steiger - Well really there are four defining characteristics or attributes of the lip. 1) Definition: This is going to be the lip's definition. What the definition is is really the distinction or contrast from the red lip to the rest of the skin of the face. So it's that really subtle ridge that outlines the lip. 2) Pout: We are talking about the pout of the lip. The pout is that three-dimensional, that subtle, the very inviting portion of the lip that kind of protrudes from the teeth from the mouth. So that's the pout. 3) Fullness: This is what most people come to my office and say, that's what I want is they want the fullness. Fullness is very important. Full lips are very sexy, they're very attractive. But if you just have a full lip alone those are called duck lips. Duck lips are attractive to Daffy Duck or Daphne Duck, not to us. But certainly we want full lips, that's something that people want to see. 4) Proportion: I was alluding to this before. Proportion is just as important as any of the other three attributes I spoke about. Meaning the lower lip should be bigger than the upper lip, should be balanced with the rest of the face, these are things that are very important. Host - You know Dr. Steiger, I just bet, I can bet that people come into you're office and say I want Scarlett Johansson's lips or I want so and so Angelina Jolie's. So let's talk about celebrity hot lips and what makes them so sexy. Scarlett's got gorgeous one's by the way. Dr. Steiger - She does. Actually every once in a while I get a celebrity they mention and I have to go and google it in the side office because I don''t know who they're taking about but certainly Scarlett Johannson is a very common request. And Scarlett Johannson she really has a very well defined, a very full lip that's the most, I think characteristic thing about her lips is the fullness that she has. Now it's important to realize they are balanced and proportionate with the rest of her face. She's got a very full face, she's got high cheek bones, her lips fit her face. Host - Okay, let's go ahead to Angelina because of course it's the.. are those real? Dr. Steiger -They may be real. Now, Angelina Jolie lips, she is the queen of pout. I like to call her the Queen of Pout because she has very pouty, and those are the very inviting lips. Now again her lips are well defined, they're full, but they're really just pouty and importantly they're proportionate. When you look at her lips the lower lips is bigger than the upper lip and within the lip itself the volume is dispersed differently to make it very natural, very sexy, and very inviting. Host - Okay, so you're at home and you're like; "My lips aren't inviting?" or you're thinking that maybe you don't want to go into you're office, no offense, but what can you do at home? Dr. Steiger - Well there's not too much you can do at home. There's a few over the counter type remedies that you can use. Really what they do is just give fullness to the lip because they irritate the lip itself. Irritate sounds like a bad word, but it actually just gives it a little more swelling to the lip that plumps it out. But in the office, non-surgical procedures, they're are several that can be done. We live in a time where we have medical advances, and technology and knowledge to really give you those attributes of the lip I spoke about. And there's quick in office, non-painful procedures. Host - Oh my gosh, what are they? Dr. Steiger - Well there are lip injection products that are long lasting, but they're are also products that are shorter lasting. They're very natural looking and they're simple and easy to do you can go back to work right away. Host -Right away! Thank you so much Dr. Steiger for being here.
